Saint Martin/Sint Maarten

Good morning everyone!!

I'm so excited to tell you guys about our trip to St Marteen!! It's really a beautiful place filled with so much history :) The island of Saint Martin is divided in two, the southern part of the island is the Dutch side and the Northern part of the island is French. Both parts of the island have its own capital and even write the islands name a little different too. Marigot is the capital of the French side in Saint Martin, and Philipsburg is the capital of the Dutch side in Sint Maarten :)

In Philipsburg, they even have a beach named Maho Beach, and its in front of the island's airport. Everyday the locals write the flight times, and everyone just knows when each plane is going to land. When the planes are landing to go to the airport, they fly super close to the beach and everyone can see the planes super close! Its an awesome experience, that makes the island of Saint Marteen internationally known. I really found it interesting, the island is small but each spot you visit is a little bit different than the previous. In Philipsburg, as well as the entire island, is completely tax free, so you can say they really know what its like to live on island time! haha :-) You can literally shop till you drop without paying any taxes!! yay!! haha you get to shop and save money, thats amazing! And for that reason many tourists love to visit the island, its known for that and much more!! I really liked it!!

I also heard something really interesting about the island when I was there! Our tour guide was talking about the climate and terrain of the island, and he said that in the island it rains once every day for 15 minutes in the morning without fail, so the island can maintain its lush and green vegetation. He said that it was the reason why the island looks sparkling green all year long, it mostly always rains everyday for at least 15 minutes, and when it doesn't rain which rarely happens..the vegetation will get dry. It sounds simple, but its actually really amazing how it can rain for 15 minutes everyday and be sunny for the rest of the time, and just knowing that those 15 minutes are what keeps the island looking beautiful everyday :-) Thats really awesome!

XOXO,
